We spoke to Moula partner, Rob Green, founder of Sterling Business Accountants in Geelong, Victoria, who shared his experience on working with Moula and how he ensures the process for his clients is as easy as possible.
How’s business?
I set up Sterling Business Accountants in 2012. Our client base is made up of almost all businesses, we’re operating in a couple of niches but we’re also growing rapidly across a diverse range of industries.
We pride ourselves on providing robust accounting solutions and are really about ensuring we add real value along the way. Business is good.
How did you hear about Moula?
I think I first heard about Moula at Xerocon in Melbourne last year. I visited the stand and could see how Moula fit into the lending landscape. Then, a few months ago, I had a visit from a Moula BDM, Luke, who told me a bit more about it and reminded me about how they could help my clients.
I’ve referred businesses who I’ve thought would be a good fit to Moula. Moula has been able to help each time and feedback on experience has been great.
And how was your experience?
The referral experience with Moula was really easy. It was just a matter of logging in to the partner portal and putting in the client’s contact details. It’s especially easy from there when clients are on Xero. The first customer I worked with Moula on just needed a short-term facility. He was having trouble with amount of time the banks needed, and Moula was able to solve his timeliness problem quickly. It worked out perfectly.
I’ve also worked on clients with Moula whose businesses are in the name of a trust. It’s important to educate the client as to what documents would be required at the beginning of the process. In these particular cases, it was easy, because we already had all the trust documents ready to go. It’s important to understand the process yourself and then keep the customer informed. I’m always happy to work with my clients to make the process as easy as possible for them.
And finally, any other thoughts on the online lending solutions that are available to small businesses?
We keep up to date with the latest business lending solutions in various ways, especially given there’s never going to be a one-size-fits-all option. I need to look into, and understand, all the offerings in the market so that I can confidently provide my clients with real solutions. It then becomes a case of finding out what a client’s real needs are and connecting them with the right solution.
In this day and age, it’s just got to be simple, simple for everyone involved in the process. It’s got to be as hassle-free as possible. That’s the type of solution Moula are providing.
